Euro 2004 Coach Travel Update - This is still very much an ongoing matter which is why we have not answered the many e mails we have received, asking for further information. What we do know is that for travel between the Algarve and Lisbon and Algarve and Coimbra, at present, for a place on a 49 seater bus between the Algarve and Lisbon works out at approximately €25 (£17.50) each return, and between the Algarve and Coimbra, approximately €40 (£28) return. Coaches which are non smoking and dry, no surprise there, will pick up from the Algarve around breakfast time or before for Coimbra to arrive at the destination around lunchtime (if that's what the majority want). Now follows the kick in the teeth. the authorities further advise the coaches will NOT have any toilet facilities. As regards coaches between Porto and Lisbon, we've simply been advised to contact the coach companies direct !. Over all we are totally dissatisfied with the responses to date, and currently Kevin Miles, International Co-ordinator for the Football Supporters Federation is pursuing this matter direct with the authorities direct in Portugal. Our feeling is that fans groups organising the coach travel will NOT be pursued any further and instead, the Portuguese authorities will succumb to pressure already being applied that will force them to lay on many additional scheduled services coaches to Lisbon, and special chartered coaches to Coimbra. This is due to the organisation and efficiency of the transport experienced in Japan is very much lacking in Portugal. An adequate system of travel for fans of all 16 countries is something the Portuguese authorities need to put in place and this cannot as they are now being told, be left to the fans of 16 countries to organise. We will update here with more information as soon as we have it. © copyright www.365EnglandFans.com
